The gang of thieves from Bristol use social media to show off their exploits

  • Account 'Bristolbiketaker' has more than 100 pictures and 1,200 followers

  • The thieves use emojis to hide their faces in the photos and wear balaclavas

  • Avon and Somerset Police say they are investigating the account.

A gang of motorbike thieves have set up an Instagram account to brag about their exploits.

The brazen criminals post pictures and videos of themselves riding stolen motorcycles.

The account 'Bristolbiketaker' lists over 100 pictures of the group's stolen bikes - ranging from high-powered bikes to a Dominos delivery bike.

There are also videos on the Instagram account, which has over 1,200 followers, of thieves zooming down the motorway on the stolen bikes.

With no intention of hiding their crimes, the description reads: 'They call me Mr steal your bikeJail rider/Bristol we take anything and everything'.

The thieves use emojis to hide their faces in the photos and wear balaclavas in others.

The group have even mocked a public forum which discusses their thieving across the city.

They Instagrammed a screenshot of a post reading: 'We know that a gang of scrotes based around Southmead and Lawrence Weston are nicking the majority of bikes around north Bristol.'

Underneath the concerned post they simply commented saying 'can't catch us'.

One man, who wanted to remain anonymous, had his bike stolen by the gang and then saw pictures of his prized possession on their account.

He said: 'I popped in The Mall at Cribbs Causeway to get my wife's Christmas present.

'I was only there for an hour but when I came out the bike, a Triumph Street Triple, had been taken.'

The victim reported the theft to the police but was shocked to see his bike featured on the account.

The mangled Triumph was later recovered from an abandoned quarry in north Bristol.

He said: 'I told the police about what was happening and it seemed to me it would only be a matter a time before somebody was going to get seriously injured.'

A spokesman from Avon and Somerset Police said: 'We are aware of the social media account and the content is actively under investigation.'
